Turner Contemporary Margate has opened the doors to crafters, it’s lovely bright room overlooking the sea is so perfect for the purpose.
I helped unwind tangled wool chatted and prepared for the afternoons activities, after setting out my needle felting ‘bits’ it was time for people to come in. Children and adults alike had a go at the knitting, weaving, sewing etc. It was lovely to see a Grandad bring along his grandchildren to weave, mothers and fathers were creating alongside their children. I showed people how to needle felt a small flower onto a swatch of felt, one lady put a happy smile on her flower, I think that summed up the afternoon ……
It was obvious from the relaxed and happy faces that this room plays an important part in the local community. I will look forward to next month.
