UPDATE…New owner very happy with her little dandie…So I’m happy too.
Little needle felted Dandie Dinmont dog went off to his new owner yesterday, with his leather collar and disc (owner wanted Happy Birthday written on it)
I was happy with the end result, the slipper in his mouth looked much better than the needle felted food. I went over his back with a layer of alpaca, it was a good blend of the right colour greys and added to the realism.
His handmade German glass eyes sparkled in the light and with dashes of silk in his topknot he was ready to meet his new owner at the birthday party.
14th April…Haven’t been able to do any more work on this little dog as I am waiting for instruction…As soon as I get an email telling me what is required I’ll get him finished, until then he sits waiting on my desk. I hope she won’t be too long getting back with the information I require… or I will get too attached to him!
UPDATED UPDATE!! I’m just not happy with that needle felted food addition so I have contacted the customer and given some altenatives, I think that food would look so much better in sculpted fimo… Or I could make her second choice… A slipper, which I could either dry or wet felt.
Stolen food !
Very nearly there, just a few more final touches and paws to finish. He has his nose now and he has his stolen sausage sandwich in his mouth, his foot is holding down a cheese one for later. I enjoyed making this boy, I hope he gives pleasure to the owner who commissioned him.
In the early stages of making a life like dog they look more like tatty toys, it is not until I have worked hard with that barbed needle that they start to look like real animals.
This little Dandie has some way to go yet and of course he still has to get his nose…Which will be handmade to fit him perfectly.
